Little Girl With Balloon Card

This card measures 5.5ins square and is made using a linen effect, hand cut blank as it’s base.

Little Girl With Balloon Card Using Wooden Embellishments

The wooden girl embellishment on this card is a massive blast from the past. About thirteen years ago (at least), I used to buy most of my card embellishments from a shop/company called Mad About Cards, when back in 2010, everything was about £1 a pack and such good quality.  I can’t find them now, so I guess they no longer trade (???), so when I spotted a bulk pack of these B-Krafty girls, I just had to have them for old times sake.

With my nieces birthday coming up I decided to make my first card in an absolute age.

I started off by colouring the plain side of a patterned wooden frame ( pack from Poundland) with a Sharpie pen.

I then made a background for the frame using scraps of gingham paper and a tiny bit of faux stitching using a black fine liner pen, creating a topper for the centre of the card.

I hand cut the card blank and then added a centre panel using the same green gingham paper mat and layered on silver mirror card.

With the topper in position on the front of the card I was then able to add a tiny ribbon to the girls hair, and recolour the balloon to draw it out a little more.  The final touch was to add a layer of Ranger Glossy Accents to the frame again to make it pop more, et voila.

I guess, in 13 years my style hasn’t really changed that much! http://itsallfiddlefart.blogspot.com/2010_08_11_archive.html.  but  after making very few cards these days it seemed natural to go simply back to where I feel most comfortable.

Finding these embellishments again took me on a very weird and wonderful path, where I eventually I found Sarah, who bought the last of the remaining B-Krafty and Create and Celebrations embellishments when the couple who owned them retired, there is now the possibility of my being able to buy some of my most favourite embellishments from the very beginnings of my crafter and blogger career ………. I am really excited, fingers crossed.

  3. Your card is adorable--your niece will love it. I'm so glad you have been able to make a connection whereby you may be able to get some of the embellishements you used to use. What a treat that will be. We all have our own style and comfort zones, and I think it's perfectly ok to stay within those boundaries if we want to.

  4. Mad About Cards was bought out, but the couple who ran it went in to digital scrap art (card design, bunting etc) under the name of printableheaven.com but they do now sell craft supplies, not as good priced as before, but not bad.

Thank you for wanting to leave a comment. I HATE verification and apologise for the extra bother it causes, however, if I don't have it I get all sorts of dubious spam added and the comments would be bogged down utter ***p!

Occasionally I get comments on posts from several years ago, again, I have to apologise, copies of TEMPLATES etc. that I once offered are now NO LONGER AVAILABLE, when my last computer died, I lost everything and decided not to replace any them.
