Blast From The Past - Rudolph Chocolate Bar From Christmas 2010

Nothing much to this …. just a way of making an inexpensive bar of chocolate look extra special and festive. I’ve just added googly eyes, antlers and a red nose, which I’ve stuck on with a sticky foam pad to make it stick out more.

You could add a loop of ribbon on the back to hang it on the Christmas Tree.

Cadbury Miniature Birthday Card

These cards measure 10.5cm x 14.5cms and are made using white linen effect card.

I made a special card using Cadbury Chocolate Miniatures a few weeks ago and thought I would try to make a “cut price” version!

I much prefer the top card, it looks much fresher and cleaner. I tried to accentuate the chocolate theme with the second card by using brown paper, I think I’ve over egged the pudding and it just doesn’t work!

Diamond Jubilee Crafts - Chocolate Bars

Following on from a couple of days ago ..... two more chocolate bars today ....

All I’ve done is cover two small Aldi chocolate bars with papers from the Papermania Portobello Road pad, Cuttlebug die cut crowns and a few gems.

Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Crafts - Chocolate Bars

I love my Papermania Portobello Road paper pack …. and I have used it so much it owes me nothing!

I’ve covered another couple of Aldi chocolate bars ready for the Diamond Jubilee celebrations, cutting down two of the union flag pages in the pad and two of the die cuts, also included.

…… and adding a die cut crown made using the Cuttlebug Emboss Plus Vintage Collage folder that Marc leant me.

I can’t decide which of the papers I like best, but at the moment it is the blue sheet with tiny crowns and leaf flourishes on because it’s quite subtle and not royally over the top!

Cadbury Chocolate Miniature Ladybirds

I love ladybirds …. so I thought I would try and decorate some Cadbury Chocolate Miniatures to look like them.

I’ve used a wrapper as a template and cut rectangles measuring 1.25cm x 2.5cm to make new ones,  drawing a thick black line approximately 1cm deep for the head along the longest edge.

After re-wrapping the chocolate, I’ve drawn a line down the centre with a small triangle at the end to look like wings, followed by a few black spots, wibbly wobbly eyes finish the whole effect.

A Box Of Birthday Chocolate Miniatures

I’ve made a matchbox using my Stampin’Up/Sizzix Die I got from the US a couple of years ago.

And then filled it with six Cadbury Chocolate Miniatures re-covered with birthday papers from docrafts Papermania range.

Chocolate Birthday Card

This card is A5 in size, using a blank of white linen effect card.

I made this card for my sister in law, to give to her best friend.  The brief was “chocolate, personalised, with a bit of glitz and glamour” and as I have made several cards for this person before, I knew it had to be something really different.

I have covered the card blank with some gift wrap I got from Cadbury World some years ago, matching it up with purple felt ric rac braid from a Papermania pack, embellished with clear flat backed gems, plus some purple and gold papers for the mat and layering.

It will come as no surprise to you that I have a few boxes of Cadbury miniatures amongst my stash, which were perfect to add to the card, topped off with candle stickers.  The font I have used is called LD Franks Child in size 28. It looks good enough to eat!

Chocolate Bar Snowmen

I hope you don’t mind me revisiting another idea from Christmas past today ….. but I have gathered a few new followers since the last time I did it and it is something easy that you could do with your own children or with a class/Brownie/Cub pack etc.  …. And,  if you are like me, you begrudge paying silly money for a hollow chocolate novelty with very little substance other than a fancy foil wrapper and eaten in seconds.

I found multipacks of 6 for 4,  233g Cadbury chocolate bars in B & M Bargains for £1.69 (which works out at 28p each).

I cut a piece of good quality white paper 12.5cm x 11.5cm to roll the chocolate bar in. In the past I’ve been posh and have used felt, but that obviously will cost a little more.

Then I cut the finger from a pair of gloves to make the snowman’s hat (Primark is the best place for buying cheap gloves, this year they have two pairs for £1.50, which gives you 20 hats!)

I’ve then cut two felt strips, one measuring  approximately 12cm x 2cm and the other a little shorter to make the scarf, which when arranged decoratively and stuck down can be fringed. After that, all there is left to do is to punch some eyes and buttons from black card, cut out a nose, and doodle the mouth. You can use real buttons and black flat back gems and a fancy ribbon for the scarf and really go to town, the world is your lobster…. but for today I have done an economy version!

Well Done for Passing Your Driving Test Chocolate Bar

It seems ages since I have done a chocolate bar. This one is to celebrate the passing of a driving test.

I’ve used self adhesive foam cars found in a local 99p shop, with clear flat back gems on the wheels for extra bling. The L plates are table confetti, which I have found really versatile for various cards in the past. The handwriting is my own, which I’ve managed to squash in between the spaces.

Talk Like A Pirate Day inspired me to make this!

I can’t look at a bar of chocolate now without thinking what I can turn it into!!!

I just hope you’re not getting fed up of them.

Tesco Ladybird Chocolate Bar

This is one of the ideas that I have come up with using one of the Tesco chocolate ladybirds (£1 a net) that I had in my shopping bag on Sunday.

I’ve covered a small bar of Cadbury chocolate with a piece of red paper measuring 13.5 cm x 10cm. Then added a leaf made using my Tim Holtz Alterations Tattered Leaves die with the ladybird on top.  A few tiny daisies made using a punch and a few flat backed gems plus a bit of faux stitching and sentiment finishes it all off. 

Halloween Spiders Web Cadbury Chocolate Bar

I am having so much fun thinking up ideas for chocolate bars. I’ve worked out that this bar has cost me no more than 10p to make, which is brilliant.

The web and spider are made using two Quickutz Silhouette design downloads, but to be honest you could make this just as easily by drawing the web on the paper and making your own spiders.

Boo – Halloween Cadbury Chocolate Bar

Not suitable for children under three because of the eyes, but a fun chocolate bar for Trick and Treating!

Dracula Halloween Cadbury Chocolate Bar

Another Halloween chocolate bar ….. I am afraid they are getting more fiddly as I go along …… sorry!

And, I know that I am terrible for not taking photos as I work …. but I remembered as I did this due to its fiddle fartyness. I hope you can get the gist of what I have done from the above picture.

The fastener on Dracula’s cloak is a small piece of peel off with a sequin at either end.  I just love the effect that a few simple doodles using a white gel pen can bring a project alive, if you’ll pardon the pun!

Halloween Mummy Cadbury Chocolate Bar

As my sister often says “Helen, you have too much time on your hands”

Only a mad woman would spend time wrapping up an inexpensive bar of chocolate in glitter paper to make it look like a Halloween Mummy!!!!!

But you have to admit it is cute!

The treat is the chocolate inside but the trick is having to unwrap it!!!

Another Halloween chocolate bar idea, nothing too much to it.

I’m not too sure if I’ve got his jacket quite right, so there’s a bit of room for improvement.

Halloween Bat Cadbury Chocolate Bar

I have used a Quickutz Silhouette template download for this bat, but it’s such a simple shape it could easily be cut out by hand.

 

I’ve cut two bats and layered gluing the heads together to give a bit of dimension.

I’ve added odd wobbly eyes, a black bead nose and a few lines using a white gel pen on the wings.

The paper I have wrapped the chocolate bar in is gift wrap which is really beautiful and ideal for this and other Halloween projects.

First Christmas Post of the Year

It’s hard to know when to start Christmas ….. I begin looking for and thinking about ideas in the summer holiday and try to get quite a few put together ….. but when should I start  posting them?  …… Well, I have decided to start now ….. and will add others as and when I do them.  If you are anything like me, I’d hate to find a brilliant idea a couple of days before Christmas and have no time/materials to make it …….. so here we go …and as it gets nearer to Christmas I can start on Easter!!!

 

I’ve seen this idea done in lots of different ways when I have been Googling and this is my version ….. take one chocolate bar ……

…….. cover it with red paper, add a belt and buckle, a few buttons, a beard and some fur trim.  The beard and trim are made using a glitter paper, which is easier to wrap round the chocolate bar. (AC0123W - 12 glitter sheets per pack from http://www.craftime.com/).  There are two shades of white in the pack, one a brilliant white and the other is slightly creamier in tone.

You could also stick a loop of red ribbon to the chocolate bar before covering it to make a Christmas Tree decoration …….or ….. get a length of string, make 25 of them, add a peel off number to each one et voila an Advent Calendar!

Cadbury Birthday Chocolate Bar

I thought I would make a few of these birthday chocolate bars to keep in my desk at work, in case of an emergency!

I think I paid 39p for a pack of 6 small bars of chocolate, which was a brilliant bargain. Before covering the chocolate with a scrap of patterned paper  I folded and stuck down both ends of the wrapper so they didn’t stick out.  I’ve handwritten “Happy Birthday”, then added a few stickers from Paperchase and some small clear flat backed gems.
