Film Lovers Card

This card was made for a gentleman who had just completed his degree in Media and who also loves films. I’ve used this digi scrapbook set from http://www.scrappindoodles.com/ for another card a while ago, it’s pretty verasrtile.

 

I’ve made a simple decoupage layers for the camera, tickets and clapperboard, added a few crystal stars and some dimension paint for the popcorn.

I have quite a few digi scrapbooking sets, but I am afraid I don’t use them often enough, it’s only when I use them on a card like this that I realise how brilliant and simple they are to use.

Two Birthday Cards Using the Smirk for Him Decoupage Pad.

I have finally used up all the pages in my Smirk for Him decoupage pad.  This is the design I liked least, the man and car just didn’t do anything for me, but I was determined to use EVERYTHING in the pad. 

For the first card I've used a blue bazzill paper and a spotty design from Dovecraft's Masculine 6 x 6 paper collection pack.

On the second card I added part of a page from a street atlas as part of the background and then to add dimension used Anita’s 3D gloss finish on his glasses, a tiny clear flat backed gem for a tie pin and silver nail head decorations on the wheels.

Cupcake Card

This is the first card I have made using the Dovecraft “Piece of Cake” decoupage pad I bought a while ago…. I am wondering whether I should have bought the matching paper pad, because I found finding a matching background paper a bit difficult,  although I have always found that pink is one of the hardest colours to match up!

 

I’ve also used gold “In Circles” sentiments from CraftworkCards, adding two yellow flat backed gems (please excuse the wet glue) for extra bling.

The card is finished off with faux stitching and  “peel off” corners, with a yellow gem added to each one.

A New Challenge For Me?

I had an e-mail last week from Gayle who works under the name of Fairydoodler creating lovely online digital designs.  As she isn’t a crafter, she asked if I would perhaps work with her designs to look at ways that they can  be used in card making etc. I am a little apprehensive, as this is very new to me, but I have said yes…… nothing ventured and all that. 

For this card I have taken an image from one of Gayle’s sets - “A Very Green Christmas” and fiddle farted about  with it using Publisher (which I find the easiest programme to manipulate images for my crafting). I’ve simply  cropped, copied and pasted to make a sheet of images to create a simple decoupage card.

I’ve mat and layered the main image on white, silver and navy card and then added a bit of faux stitching. Then I have decoupaged his hat, mittens, scarf and little bird.  To complete the design I’ve added the sentiment, punched snowflakes, a few gems and some micro glitter on the snow and sky.

I love that Gayle has used subtle, slightly different colours to what I would usually go for, and I also love the detail in the scarf and gloves.

Surprise Party Birthday Card

This is a card I made for a friend of a friend for whom she was planning a surprise party, I thought I would follow the theme through to her card as a reminder of the evening.

I’ve used my newspaper template and an assortment of clipart images.

The lady is made up with simple decoupage layers.

I’ve used Anita's 3D clear gloss finish on her eyes, shoes and cake, a tiny amount of Hero Arts micro hologram glitter on the candles and hat and an assortment of stars sprinkled here and there.

Football Birthday Card

This card is made using the SMIRK for Him decoupage pad (£7.99) – it contains enough designs to make at least 24 cards.

I have used “real” grass for it – well almost, it’s the grass they use for model railways etc. I think it cost about £2.99 a roll from Hobbycrafts – it’s a nice little twist making very simple card just that little bit more special.

Pepper And Friends Decoupage Cards.

Decoupage isn’t really my thing …. but I got the pad for these cards at a reduced bargain price from The Range because it was slightly damaged.
 
On the first card I have added three small bee buttons, covering up the printed bees on the original.

On this Pepper card I have added a bow, googley eyes and a few tiny flat backed gems.

And these last two cards I have experimented with the background papers.

Though these are not my type of card, they soon disappeared and after using them and seeing how popular they are I do look more carefully at decoupage stacks now.

Leaving Card

It’s sad, but at there are several people leaving the school where I work at the end of the summer term, and I have been asked to make a couple of cards for them.

To make it more personal and special, I have taken a photo of the front entrance of the school and used it to make a very simple decoupaged newspaper card.

Three Decoupage Cards – Pepper and Friends

I don’t usually do decoupage but now and again I relent, especially when they are a bargain. These cards were made using a Pepper and Friends pad (Trimcraft) that I got from the Range, the pad had come apart and to be honest I think there was another part of a pad mixed up with it as well…..

I’ve used a pale gingham card for the background mat and layered on silver and then added small flat backed gems here and there for extra sparkle.

To me, it feels a little bit like cheating, but the proof is in the pudding, and they flew out of my box!

Smirk for Him Birthday Cards – Astronaut and Superman

These are the two decoupage pages I liked least in the Smirk for Him decoupage pad, I don’t know why, they just didn’t inspire me, but I wanted to use the whole of the pad up so that I wouldn’t have spare pages lying around forever.

Just because I don’t like the subject matter, it doesn’t mean that someone won’t be thrilled when they find just the right card when they rummage through my card box!

You Have To Kiss a Lot of Frogs Card

This card is made using a page from a Pepper and Friends decoupage pad by Trimcraft. When I had finished it, I thought what on earth am I going to do with that big space at the top ….. then inspiration …. I know….  It’s always a tense moment when I write directly onto a card, one mistake and I'll have to start again!

The card is finished off with a pair of googly eyes and a few gems from a Poundland nail decoration kit.

Two Smirk for Him Birthday Cards – Racing Driver and Golfer.

I have made these cards using the SMIRK for Him decoupage pad (7.99) and background papers from a Dovecraft 6 x 6 pack of “Masculine” papers.

I have added a few embellishments like a tiny button to the golfers shirt and a small gem on the drivers top , the metal discs on the car are hot fix nail heads from http://www.rhinestonesonline.co.uk/, they are a brilliant online shop and P & P is always kept to a minimum.

 

Smirk for Him Birthday Cards

I have been working my way through my Smirk for Him decoupage pad, which I have to say have flown out of my staffroom box.

This was a design I wasn’t too keen on, but I am quite pleased with the way it has turned out after I gave it a sort of sitting room background.

I added the puffy cup stickers (Paperchase - £1 per pack) as an afterthought,  I think they have added a sort of extra quaintness.

Gone Fishing Birthday Card

 

I’ve never bought any decoupage stuff until now ……. my mate Lisa bought the ‘SMIRK For Him’ decoupage pad at NEC Hobbycrafts in March, I was unimpressed ….. until I saw how hers turned out ….

And now I’ve just had to buy a pad too.  I find coming up with cards for men really hard, but I am thrilled with how this card has turned out.  I have used Dovecraft Masculine 6 x 6 papers (DCDP58) - £2.99  as the  background .

And then added a real fishing fly to the gentleman's hat, a tiny button on his waistcoat and a small black sticker to the fishes eye.
