Gone Fishing Sweetie Bag

I don’t do a lot of men’s stuff, but this is an idea that came to me the other morning …… perhaps I was thinking of Father’s Day!

I drew lines free hand on one side of a cello bag using a black permanent pen.

The bag topper is made using a Nestablities label die to which I have added a strap and buckle and small punched holes.

The bag is attached using double sided tape on both sides of the topper.

The “Gone Fishin” was cut on my Silhouette.

Above is the back view of the bag. The fish are from Ikea.
It’s an idea that can be improved with a little tinkering.

Hi Ho Wolverhampton - Wolves Birthday Card

I don’t make that many cards for men, but when I do they usually have a football theme – and coming from Wolverhampton, most of them feature Wolves.

This is another card using my newspaper design template and a bit of computer jiggery pokery using Publisher.

I’ve done a very simple decoupage layer to make the “exclusive” and Mick McCarthy's head stand proud from the rest of the card.

I have also done the Wolves logo in three layers, using Anita’s 3D clear gloss finish on the final one, to accentuate the Wolves head.

Stampin' Up Bird Punch

My friend Lisa is offering 20 copies of the new Stampin Up mini catalogue on her Stampin Up Blog http://stampincraftfairy.blogspot.com/ – I can’t wait to get hold of my copy as I am desperate to get one of the new two step bird punches!

Scuba Divers Birthday Card

This card was made for a scuba diving friends 50th Birthday.

The diver is a clipart image that I made two copies of by flipping one over (in Publisher) so that I had  him swimming in both directions.  The images were then printed, cut out and stuck down using foam pads for added dimension. The sentiment was also done on the computer.

The background paper is brilliant for the water, I am sorry I can’t remember where it was from, but it is probably Papermania.

The divers have googly eyes, the bubbles are assorted clear flat backed gems and the large 50 is from  a peel off number sheet.

Nancy’s Bunny - New Baby Card

This is a card I made for my sister-in-laws neighbours new baby. I think Nancy is such a lovely name.

The rabbit is a Quickutz download, cut on my Silhouette.

I added the ears and heart using DCWV baby papers, the check background paper is baby gift wrap and the nose is a left over heart from an Accessorize sticker pack.

The tag was made using a Woodware tag punch and the writing and faux stitching is by my own fair hand.

Jar of Greetings – Shaker Birthday Card

The plastic bubble “jar” of alphabet letters was free with a cardmaking magazine ages ago, as there was only one of each letter in the pack the set had a limited use

But then I struck upon the idea of cutting out the jar shape from its original advertising backing.  All I have done is attach it to a blank card on a textured blue background paper to make a shaker card.

Inside the card I have written - “The letters in this special jar spell out - Wishing You A Happy Birthday”

50th Birthday Card

This card was another nightmare to photograph – the colours look dirty, when in fact the card and lettering are in a pale ivory linen and the letters look awfully lumpy and bumpy ……..

…..And I’m not all together sure whether there are a few  too many words on it, now I am looking at the pictures, but in the flesh it is lovely!

The letters are cut out on my Silhouette, the daisies are punched with very sparkly turquoise flat backed gems from Craftwork Cards in the centre.

Gingerbread Man Card

This was a quick card I made for a friend at work who asked for some silicon baking tins for her “Office Whip Round Present” and I thought I would continue the theme.

The background paper came from e-bay years ago.

The gingerbread men came from a children's Christmas ornament which I bought and unpicked just for them – it’s a pity they have holes in their heads, but hey ho.

One of the things on my crafting wish list is a very small gingerbread man cutter, I am very particular, it has to have rounded hands and legs and be no bigger than 4cm tall!  What do you reckon the chances of me ever finding one are?

Button Bag

I have far too many buttons, but what should I do with them all?

Well ……… I was given this bag a little while ago, I loved the shape and as the writing was only on one side I thought it could be covered up quite easily.

I used my glue gun to stick the buttons on as I thought it would give the greatest hold.

It will be interesting to see how long they last, but I only intend to use it for my holidays and light shopping duties!

My Brother’s Mother’s Day Card

My  “Special” brother bought this home for my mum from his Care Centre on Friday – it is the most beautiful Mother’s Day card in the world!

My Mum’s Mother’s Day Card

While we were out shopping a couple of weeks ago my mum saw a cuddly frog with wings in a shop window and said “I want a frog with wings” …… well this is what I came up with ……..

I have used a self adhesive foam frog from a children’s pack (they may have been from Hobbycraft, but I’m not 100% sure), a padded gold wing, cut in half and a pair of googly eyes.  I made the background using oddments of Bazzill paper and doodling.

Quite, quite mad but cute!

16th Birthday Card

Lots of shots of the same card here. 

I’ve just used some 12 x 12 papers I got at NEC in November and an assorted jumble of alphabet stickers from American Crafts and Doodle Bug and Papermania.

I’ve done lots of mat and layering on matching papers and doodled  faux stitching.

The flowers are made using  large and medium sized retro flower punches.

The flower centres are black rainbow drops from Craft Notions and the small flat black stickers are from Glitterati.  It’s a bit over the top I know!

Girls Just Wanna Have Fun!

The text for this card is a Quickutz download cut on my Silhouette. 

And the various bottles and make up stuff are tiny stickers from Mei Flower – they usually have an impossibly busy stand at Hobby Crafts at the NEC but it is well worth …. erm ….fighting through, as they has some brilliant embellishments for about  £1 a pack!

Butterfly Silhouette Card

I’ve used another Quickutz download for this card.  It’s quite fiddly poking out the little bits, I really should buy a pokey tool.

I have used a black card blank, added a cream panel which I have layered on gold and then added the butterfly die cut in the centre.  All I have then added is a few very small sparkly flat backed gems.

A Bunch of Flowers Card

I had these paper flowers from the Hobby Crafts Show at the NEC in November and have never used them, the same goes for the Craftwork cards sentiment circle die cut!  What am I like?

But today they all came together for this card.

I have used various iridescent coloured brads for the flower middles and the leaves are made using a punch I found in a small craft shop in Chester market recently.

What’s On My Desk Wednesday

My desk is pretty bare and tidy on Wednesdays because by mid week I am usually too cream crackered to craft much, so all I have to offer you this week is my shopping – and nothing really exciting there either ………

I got 2 for £1 Easter carrier/gift bags from Poundland – which is a bit of a bargain.

A lovely large pencil case, also from Poundland, but I thought it would make a pretty washbag for my holidays .

And finally a net of chocolate hearts available for £1 (12 in a net) from The Co-op and Somerfield.  A bit late for Valentines Day, but the sell by date is March 2011 – so I have plenty of time to think how to use them.
