What’s On My Desk Wednesday

I am trying to economise as I seem to have had made a few expensive purchases this month …. so to get a shopping “fix” I  have been over to the local papershop, where the gentleman takes off the free gifts from the unsold comics and sells them for 30p each, there are some real treasures if you rummage around enough!
Picture 176
I got this tool kit to embellish some of my sweetie filled toolboxes – five men's embellishments for 30p? Brilliant!
Picture 186
And this 30p bargain was even better than I anticipated when I opened the box.  I thought the pieces would be flat and the cars printed on them, but I found that there were little foam cars stuck on the strips of road ….

So, I made a tiny gift box for learner driver who has just passed their driving test …… I’ll put a few car shaped sweeties inside the box to follow the theme through.

The L plates are table confetti.

I know it’s daft but its cute as well!

I have a couple more ideas for these “dominoes”,  I just need the time!

What’s On My Desk Wednesday

My desk is pretty bare and tidy on Wednesdays because by mid week I am usually too cream crackered to craft much, so all I have to offer you this week is my shopping – and nothing really exciting there either ………
Easter Bags
I got 2 for £1 Easter carrier/gift bags from Poundland – which is a bit of a bargain.
Washbag
A lovely large pencil case, also from Poundland, but I thought it would make a pretty washbag for my holidays .
Chocolate Hearts
And finally a net of chocolate hearts available for £1 (12 in a net) from The Co-op and Somerfield.  A bit late for Valentines Day, but the sell by date is March 2011 – so I have plenty of time to think how to use them.

What’s On My Desk Wednesday

Not so much, what’s on my desk, more what’s on my whatnot!
Picture 095
I finally got it up.  I need to rearrange my treasures now. I would really like to collect miniature birdcages, but I have an idea that they are few and far between and expensive!  So I think I am going to compromise and collect little tea light lanterns instead – so it’s a sort of work in progress.
I have a little fairy door on my picture rail, as I think that “my” fairies like to live somewhere high!

What’s On My Desk Wednesday

My desk is very tidy and boring at the moment,  but as I went on a shopping trip with my mate Lisa on Saturday, I thought I would lay my shopping on my desk……
Home Bargains Mini Marshmallows
Mini Marshmallows from Home Bargains – 69p, brilliant for the Bunny Brew Hot Chocolate I am planning to make for Easter.
Ikea Fish Ice Tray
Ikea fish ice cube tray, 99p – I am thinking about using this for making chocolate fish for Father’s Day.
Nuts and Bolts
Ikea Nut and Bolt jellys – 49p, I thought I might make some Sizzix shaker boxes with gentlemen in mind.
Nail Decorations
Nail decorations – very small gems, brilliant for tiny weeny designs – 99p
Pirate Confetti
And finally pirate confetti – 79p – cute silver swords and pirate flags, I don’t have a project in mind – but I am sure they will come in useful sometime.

What’s On My Desk Wednesday

Yes, I  know it’s all looking too tidy, but I am off for a day or two, so wanted it all neat and tidy ready to start fiddlefarting again when I get back.
WOMDW What Not Shelves
The “whatnot stand” I bought for £4.00 from a second hand market a few weeks ago is back, this time painted magnolia and ready to put up on my craft room wall.
1 inch glass tiles
But,  much more exciting, is this box of 1 inch square glass tiles I ordered from US (I couldn’t find them anywhere in UK), so that I can make glass pendants like these.
Completed Project: Glass Tile Pendant Picture #1

I’ve seen lots of blogs featuring them and am desperate to have a go myself.

What’s On My Desk Wednesday

It’s frightening how fast Wednesdays come around.
Desk Feb 3
I have been cutting card blanks (5 x 5 in) a job I hate doing but if I do a job lot now it means I can just sit at my desk and crack on, instead of mucking around with scorers and guillotines. I am running short of white linen card so an order to The Paper Mill Shop is imminent.
Desk 2
My desk often looks tidy because on the other side of the room is a big shelf heaving with stuff that I need to put away, or is there because I am “thinking about what to do with it”  Agh.

What’s On My Desk Wednesday

Picture 057
I got this "what not" stand on Saturday from a second hand stall on Bridgnorth Market for £4, I couldn’t resist it.  I am going to paint it the same colour as my craft room (magnolia) and put even more of my treasures on it!!!
Picture 060
Also on my desk is this mini kilner jar. I got a box of 8 from the Range, for about £6.99. I think they are originally for spices but I want to do something “cute” with them …… it’s on my desk so that  I will keep looking at it and hopefully inspiration will eventually hit me!  I want to put a fairy in it … something like that …….
Desk Wednesday
The playing cards are on my desk as I have a Valentines idea brewing…….
I have just filled my lovely pink pencil case with all my “posh” fountain pens.  I used to use them all the time a few years ago and then got out of the habit, so one of my New Year’s Resoloutions is to use them again as they make you writing look so good.
You may have spotted my reading glasses too.  I have so many pairs (because I am always putting them down) – 1.50 strength, usually from Primark or Poundshops, the fancier the better – these ones are zebra print!  I wear strong contact lenses but I am finding for close up work I need an extra boost.  The best ones I have ever had had “diamonds” on a leopard print frame, from Liverpool Docks.  I loved them so much, but the “diamonds” fell out quite quickly.  They were only about £2.99 and I am constantly on the look out for more!

What’s On Your Desk Wednesday

Whats on Your desk
My craft room is finally my own again, not that I am grumbling because having a bulging house this Christmas was wonderful. I have put some of my new craft stuff on my desk before I find a home for everything.  I have been very very spoiled.
The sewing machine has a zig zag stitch that I am hoping to use on my cards, I just need to master threading it first.  The hot gun is for sealing wax and seals, very very exciting!  The sidekick will let me use my small dies without getting out my BigShot and the huge Sizzix dies are more boxes with Easter and birthdays in mind!  There is also a new set of Nestablities labels for amongst other things sweet bag tops.
As I said, I am very spoiled.

The little man is called  One Man Try Tape  Dispenser and was a present from my mum. A couple of people have commented on how cute he is so I have found him here  (amongst other places) for £12.99

In answer to Ali's question, yes, I do use my Nesties on the Big Shot, I can usually cut through three layers of a thinish card if I am making bag toppers etc.

What’s On My Desk Wednesday and Two Trees Card

desk
`What’s on my desk today?  Absolutely nothing!  I have had a festive tidy up!  Doesn’t look right does it?
Picture 354
These Christmas trees are from a pack I found in a garden centre craft shop.  They have a wooden background with an embossed green felt front, but I don’t know who made them. I have added a few flat backed gems to them for extra bling.  As I  have run out of white glitter card, I’ve used a liberal sprinkling of micro glitter on white card for the snow.  I have finished the card by doodling snowflakes with a white gel pen on the pale blue sky.
I don’t think this is a card I will go into production with as it needs some more twiddling, the proportion of the trees and their positioning isn’t quite right.
