A Review - Using Masking Sticker Set From WholePort

Genius at Work WholePortI thought I would do a little review and have a little play with one of the Masking Sticker Sets (ver. basic) I received in my first parcel of goodies from WholePort.  The first thing I noticed was just how put the packaging was!

Each pack contains 27 different patterned sheets, made up of self adhesive paper 7.5mm, 15mm strips and 13mm dots.  My second impression was that the students where I work would love these stickers to use as page markers, to accentuate key words or just to embellish their work.   I’ve used a few on one of my Smash Book pages to stick down a couple of tickets and as labels.
Smash Book I’ve used them along with my old faithful Dymo label maker to make these gift tags,

012I added just one strip on the back of the tags and would also be tempted, if giving a card with the gift, to add a few stripes to the envelope to carry the theme through.

Nail Art Meets Poundland Paperweight

Polymer Clay Nail Art Paperweight WholePort. PaperweightThis idea was a total, total experiment …. I loved the polymer clay nail art fruit wheel WholePort sent me, the fruit “slices” were sooooo cute,  but I just couldn’t see a way of using them on a card etc. as they were so small ….
WholePort …… then I remembered the Poundland DIY paperweights I still have stashed away and wondered what would happen if I filled the bottom with Anita’s 3D Clear Gloss Finish and all the polymer clay shapes (except the strawberries)……half hoping that it might turn out looking like a Poundland version of a posh millefiori paperweight!!!!!
Polymer Clay Cane Paperweight WholePortIt took several hours to set and until the cloudiness had cleared I didn’t know if it would be a success or not.
WholePort Nail Art paperweightWell, it did go clear and it did harden …. and then I got to thinking again … what it I apply a coating of Hunkydory Diamond Sparkles ultra fine glitter to the back to sparkle between the gaps in the fruit ……???  I was so frightened I was just about to ruin an afternoons “fiddle farting” …..
Polymer Clay Cane nail art paperweight WholePortBut it worked, and I am so chuffed with the overall effect.  The paperweight set came with a self adhesive velvet backing so all the "gubbings" can't be seen so it looks like a proper expensive paperweight!  I am now wondering if I could try something similar with other small,  thin embellishments …. perhaps some stars on a dark blue background ……

Two Exciting Parcels From WholePort In One Day!

Wholeport ParcelI don’t think anyone could find fault with this careful packaging
There was much excitement last week, when, after a very long wait, my first order heralding the start of my sponsorship with WholePort finally arrived, it seems that after a very detailed search the parcel was traced back to customs control where its contents underwent a very thorough inspection!!!!!

As if this excitement wasn’t enough, my next scheduled order from WholePort arrived at the same day, this time without any further scrutiny from customs!
I agreed to the WholePort sponsorship scheme because I am able to choose what I would like each month … which means I can order a specific item for an idea I may have, rather than receive a box of random bits and pieces that I am not too sure what to do with or may not inspire me.  All WholePort ask is that I write a post about a few of the things that I make,  with links to the products used.
I have had no previous experience with the WholePort before, a company based in China, but I did receive this comment from follower Lynda who said:-
“With regards to WholePort - I have bought off them several times through Etsy - unfortunately they have now closed their Etsy store, don't know why. I purchased organza trimmings and 'vintage' type lace from them. They are really good to purchase from, very polite and although the goods are coming from China, I have received them within 2 weeks”

All I can add is that the correspondence I have received over the past few months has been very, very thorough and detailed and the second parcel arrived within a week or so after my order was placed.

Postage and packing appears to be quite reasonable via China Post Air and you can pay through PayPal but as with ordering from any company it is at your own risk,  so please check everything carefully when placing an order.
Anyway, I think there is plenty here to get me thinking …. my first idea for a card using one of the wooden teddy embellishments follows this post.
Disclaimer: I have accepted a sponsorship from WholePort where I receive  free products each month with no incentive to offer a favourable review. The only compensation I receive is the use of the products that I review.  I have not been told what to write and the opinions are my solely own.

A Couple Of New Ventures …… National VELCRO® Month & Wholeport

National Velcro Month.National Velcro Month..
Over the past few months I have received a few e-mails from various companies asking if I would be interested in reviewing/trying out some new products …. but to be honest I just didn’t have the heart or the mojo…… but then I got an e-mail from Zuzana Borovska from Fleishman-Hillard asking if I would like to be involved with National VELCRO® Month in November …… and I thought why not?
Velcro Sick onVelcro National Velcro Month
Yesterday I received  the most beautifully packaged VELCRO® kit containing all sorts of exciting VELCRO® packs to get all crafty and creative with. The aim of the campaign is to come up with new tips, ideas and ways  to useELCRO®   and then share  the ideas in a few blog posts along with other bloggers who are also involved.  It is hoped that between us we can come up with at least 101 ideas on how to use VELCRO® !  I have a couple …..but once I start playing I hope to come up with a few more …..and hopefully, with luck, I can add an extra couple of posts to FiddleFart too.

If anyone has any ideas they would like to suggest I would be very grateful and I will try to put them together and blog them too, with all credit paid to you of course.
my sponsors
You may also have noticed that I have a new link in my sidebar to a company called Wholeport.  Wholeport is a company based in China that has somehow found me in the ether and has offered to sponsor me in an effort to help get my mojo back. They will send me a range of products to try out, review and link back to.  I decided to say yes because a lot of their stuff was quiet different and I was curious!  If I receive products that I don’t think I will/can use I intend to pass them on to readers,  as it seems ages since I have had a giveaway. I await my first parcel to arrive as I just don’t know what to expect.  I have no experience of using this company but I have read a couple of reviews that have said that all orders are sent out very professionally and fast ….. just Google them for reviews or posts from other blogs if you want to check them out.
Primark Christmas baby socksAnd finally a heads up to this gorgeous tiny Christmas baby socks from Primark …. these are size 0 – 2.5 (early days) and cost £1.50 for three pairs.  Last year you might remember that I filled Christmas baby socks (below),  not half as pretty as these,  filling them with sweets with sweets and they vanished as soon as I put them out.   You could also buy three sets (24) to make a gorgeous Advent washing line!
Baby Socks Christmas Stocking Treat FavorThis years socks will be put across our fireplace on a piece of pretty string and attached with miniature pegs …. photos to follow in December.
I am not making much this year, but if I see interesting things in the shops I will certainly keep posting heads up!
