Easter Bunny Hot Chocolate

The card in this packet measures 13cm x 13cm and is printed on white linen effect card.

I make Easter Bunny hot chocolate packs every year and they always go down well!

I try and come up with slightly different packaging,  so this year I’ve used a bunny from a digi set called Wee Bunnies Easter (ATWH4060CU) from Scappindoodles  which only cost $1 to download. (they have a minimum download, so you may have to order a couple of sets, like I did.)

To the packet I’ve added a sachet of Cadbury hot chocolate, a chocolate lolly as a stirrer, some mini marshmallows and three chocolate chicks.  I think M & S are doing bunny shaped biscuits which could be added instead of the chicks to prevent chocolate overload!

Monkey Merchandise

My “Mum’s Monkey” blog is slowly catching on …. so I have made some badges for small gifts/blog candy, perhaps this is the start of a whole range of Monkey merchandise!

It may be intended to be a child's toy but my Badge It (10p from a carboot sale) is one of the coolest bits of kit I have!

Simple Heart Garland Card

This card is A6 in size and made using ivory linen effect card.

I’ve used tiny paper flowers that I was given and stuck them on the edge of a large punched heart, which I have then stuck onto the card blank.

I’ve drawn the leaves (not sure if the darker lines are really necessary though) and then added a pink bow. I was thinking that this might make a very simple Mother’s Day card.

A Card And Something To Eat?

A daft idea, I know.  I’ve  just stuck three Tesco chocolate rabbits on the front of a card with foam pads. I usually put a cream egg on everyone’s desks at Easter, but this will be something a bit different this year.

Not A Face For The Tele Just Yet!

I had a very exciting e-mail in the week from the Associate Producer of a new TV programme on C4 called Superscrimpers: Waste Not Want Not, it seemed they had found my blog and thought I might be able to contribute something!

The series is about trying to teach the general public how to be less wasteful and save their money, however after a couple of phone calls and e-mails I really don’t think I am what they were looking for.  Though I use a lot of car boot and  Poundshop “finds”  etc. for a lot of my projects, they were looking for someone who could unravel their husbands old jumper and knit toys for their children with the wool ….. which isn’t really me!  But I was dead chuffed to be asked and it’s thrilling to know that my blog has been “spotted by the TV people …..  however, I think this may be as far as it goes ….. but you never know!

HobbyCraft Easter Card Kit

I don’t usually buy card kits, but this was in Hobbycraft in December priced at £3.99 with enough bits to make at least twelve cards.  At the time I liked the embellishments and thought that as I don’t really make a lot of Easter cards, combined with the few Easter bits I already have, it was quite an economical buy.

This is my first effort, to be honest it’s pretty pants, rank amateur!!!!

Me, bunnies, chicks and eggs just don’t gel ….  and spring colours don’t do anything for me either, funny isn’t it?  Every year I really, really try but not matter how hard, I just can’t get inspired and ideas don’t come easily to me, but at least I can say I tried........

Accessorize Brooch/Pin

Remember this Accessorize Brooch I desired and obtained a little while ago, well my mum fell in love with it too.  But, where my brooch is still on my desk (but still very much admired) my mum has framed hers and it looks fantastic!

She has put hers in a box/shadow frame with a beautiful piece of rainbow paper and it looks exquisite. My photos really don’t do it any justice, as the light was pants when I tried to take them.

Seeing what my mum has done has spurred me on to do something similar with mine, and I’ll post here when I do.

Flower Pot Place Setting

The idea for this came from follower Anj, who left a comment saying she’d made a bouquet of flowers using Elizabeth Shaw mints and skewers …… which got me thinking …….

I’ve had these very small 3cm tall flower pots on my desk mithering  me to do something with them for ages …. then after seeing Anj’s comment I thought ….. what about place settings?

I’ve sandwiched the mint and a purloined Starbucks wooden coffee stirrer for a stem, in between two sets of flower die cuts.  I coloured the stirrer green with a promarker and added two punched leaves. I’ve put some plastercine in the bottom of the pot to hold the flower in place. The name of the guest could be written on the pot or a small tag attached. Thank you Anj for the inspiration.

Easter Bunny Penny Mix

I know there isn’t much crafty going on in this idea, but it’s something that disappears as soon as I put them out at work.

I’ve put in mixture chocolate rabbits, eggs, coins and other sweets I had from Tesco, Morrison’s and The Co-Op.

The Most Precious Card In All The World

It’s been a bit hectic this week, and I know it’s a bit late, but I MUST show you the most wonderful Mother’s Card in all the World!

As most of you know I have a profoundly handicapped brother (he’s 48),  and every year he brings a special card back from his unit for my mum. We are under no illusions that he has had much to do with this card, he’s probably just sat and watched the staff who look after him every day do it all for him !!!!!   ….. But it’s still very, very special.

Objects of Desire

I love jewellery and while I was away in Brixham at the weekend I went to drool rather unfetchingly in my favourite jewellery shop window …

Have you ever seen anything so beautiful?  Jewellery for fairies!!!

Just look at this tiara!!!! Sigh, sigh, sigh, sigh, sigh!!!!  The shop is so full of beautiful dainty type objects of my desire that if I was asked what I would like ….. I really, really wouldn’t be able to choose ……. just to touch it would be enough!

Easter Matchbox Favors

These are some of the Easter favor boxes that  I have made using my Stampin’ Up matchbox die my son got me for Christmas (not yet available in UK, sorry.)

They measure  6.5cm x 5cm x 2cm

I’ve filled them with a Tesco bunny, 3 for £1, 4 chocolate chicks and a mini egg, also from Tesco for in a net for £1.

It’s the first time I’ve used the die and I can see lots of potential for other ideas.

Thank you Anj for the inspiration.  I’ve just added foiled bunny and carrot stickers left over from last Easter, googly eyes and a few flower stickers. Simples!

Waste Not, Want Not

Yesterday I made cards using my Kars wooden flower embellishments and all I had left was the little wooden tray they came in ….. so this is what I did with it….

I know the grey’s a bit ugh and the tray’s a bit rough, but this was a five minute job, using up all the scraps of paper from the cards for my own amusement and it’s destined for one of the shelves in my craft room..

Sorry about the wet glue, I’m as impatient as ever!

Wooden Flower Cards

These cards all measure 5ins x 5ins and are made using ivory linen effect card.

I’m still continuing to try and make something from everything I bought at the NEC on Saturday …. I’ve used up one box of Kars wooden flower embellishments (£2.99 for 45 flowers, what a bargain!) to make a set of cards like these.

 

The papers are from the My Minds Eye, Stella and Rose, 6 x 6 pads I also got. 

 

They are turning out to be my most favourite papers ever! But instead of keeping them just to look at, I am determined to use every last scrap!

All I have done is embellish the flowers with a tiny punched daisy and flat backed pearl.

My Decopatch House

I think this is the start of my new long term project.

I knew that if I didn’t do something almost immediately with this ply board house (£6) I got from the Decopatch Stand at NEC on Saturday, it would eventually get tucked away and erm….  be forgotten for at least a year or so, but that’s not going to be the case …..

I’ve decided to use the papers from the 6in x 6in My Mind’s Eye, Stella and Rose (Gertie and Rosie) paper pads I also got on Saturday.  The patterns are small, in perfect proportion to the “house” and most importantly they already match, which is something I am hopeless at doing!

This will indeed be a labour of love, because although I made templates for one side of the house, they weren’t exactly right for the other side, so each “room” is going to have  be done individually, making templates first. I’m also hoping that several coats of varnish will cover any little mistakes I make along the way.

I think I am going to make each section a room, a little bit higgledy piggledy, like the old overcrowded dolls houses you see in history books, with tables and shelves covered in curios, pictures on the walls and perhaps a few dangling lights ….

 

I am also planning on putting doors on the sides of the rooms, using images I find on Google etc. so that it looks like each room is adjoining.  It’s going to take me ages I know, but just think of all the fun I’m going to have looking for all the tiny things to put in!

Crafty Individuals Stamp Card

This card measures 5ins x 5ins and is made using linen effect card.

Goodness, what has happened to me, I’m turning into a right old stamper!  This is one of three stamps I bought on Saturday, by Crafty Individuals but the stand belonged to http://www.ali-craft.co.uk/catalog/ – oh my life, they had such beautiful stuff, so lovely, I went back twice, and  now have a wish list for their on-line shop!

As you know stamping doesn’t come easily to me, but with so many lovely stamps, I dabble, knowing that it is very  doubtful I will ever be an expert.

But this stamped like a dream. It’s a shame the same can’t be said for my efforts, which are all too visible in this close up shot! It’s woeful I know, but it was my first effort, and I was only playing with my new toy!  I need to trim a little better on the butterfly layers and it’s a little smudged and grimy in places, because I’d wiped off some cerise glitter from the butterflies when I decided I didn’t like it! But what a gorgeous stamp and I’ll do better next time!

Easter Bunny Chocolate Bar

This is a cheaper, simpler version of a wrapped chocolate bar I made last year.

The little chocolates below are made using Cadbury miniatures.

I’ve wrapped them up in scraps of white paper and then added leftover Assessorize stickers.  It was a bit of an experiment, but I think I will make a few more, using the other animal heads I have.
