Halloween Trick or Treat Sweetie Bags

Halloween Sweetie Bags using Accessorize Stickers
I LOVE Accessorize for their stickers and I LOVE my sister Jan for going looking for them for me.  Look what they’ve done for Halloween, how cute are they?

I know I’ve shown these sweetie bags before, but I just love making them using different stickers etc. to go with various celebrations in year and to see how different they can look.

I’ve used Elizabeth Shaw mint crisps and my Stampin Up punches to make them. On one side I have used the stickers and on the other handwritten “Trick or Treat”

Sometimes it is very hard to use Accessorize stickers and then give what you have made with them away, but what’s the use of having drawers full of lovely things you’ve only looked at but done nothing with.

I have put the sweets in pretzel bags/lollipop bags which can be found on e-bay:-

Tesco Advent House Update 2

Things are progressing well after a very slow start.

Picture 004
All the drawers are covered (with  Basic Grey, Jack Frost, Blitzen) and after three coats of Modge Podge Sparkle they are really twinkly in a subtle rather than bling type way.
Picture 008
The knobs are on too, but imagine my dismay when I found that I was one short, aghhhhhhh, they are so fiddly to do, but spraying another knob (a Poundshop wooden bead) is my next job. As you can see I have glued them on alternatively, top right, bottom left, just for a bit of variety.
Picture 012
I’ve also started on the bottom right hand panel, adding snow using white glitter paper, I think I am going to put a snowman in this space …… if I can find a really cute enough one.
Picture 006
I’ve also started on the roof but I am not too sure ……… it looks flat and something is missing…….

Gingham Holly Christmas Card

I think this card needs a bit of fine tuning but the bones of the idea are there. I think it might need a sentiment, but I haven’t decided where and how yet.
Holly Christmas Cards Using Buttons (2)
The holly leaves are made using a large punch and the buttons were a job lot from a stall on Wolverhampton market a while ago. As soon as I saw this big plastic bag full of small red buttons I thought “holly berries”

Now what can I do with the other five hundred?

Halloween Mummy Cadbury Chocolate Bar

As my sister often says “Helen, you have too much time on your hands”
Halloween Mummy Chocolate Bar
Only a mad woman would spend time wrapping up an inexpensive bar of chocolate in glitter paper to make it look like a Halloween Mummy!!!!!

But you have to admit it is cute!

The treat is the chocolate inside but the trick is having to unwrap it!!!

Halloween Frankenstein Cadbury Chocolate Bar

Frankinstein Chocolate Bar Halloween
Another Halloween chocolate bar idea, nothing too much to it.

I’m not too sure if I’ve got his jacket quite right, so there’s a bit of room for improvement.

Halloween Bat Cadbury Chocolate Bar

Halloween Bat Chocolate Bar
I have used a Quickutz Silhouette template download for this bat, but it’s such a simple shape it could easily be cut out by hand.

I’ve cut two bats and layered gluing the heads together to give a bit of dimension.

I’ve added odd wobbly eyes, a black bead nose and a few lines using a white gel pen on the wings.

The paper I have wrapped the chocolate bar in is gift wrap which is really beautiful and ideal for this and other Halloween projects.

Home Bargains Shopping Bag ….

Home Bargains Shopping Bag
I nipped into Home Bargains on Saturday for a quick mooch, it’s to early for Christmas and their Halloween stuff is just coming in, so at the moment they haven’t got anything of an exciting crafty nature,  ….. but I loved this bag at the till …..  for 99p

I have a big thing about birds at the moment …… now ….. do I embellish with just a few flat backed gems?

Finished Altered Canvas Bag.

Picture 241
If there is anything that I am guilty of on this blog, it’s being very enthusiastic about my latest carboot bargains, saying what I am going to do with them and then putting them on hold for months on end …..
CanvasBagreadytobealtered_thumb4Altered_Bag_Accessorize_thumb
…….but since Bank Holiday I have made a concerted effort to finish something ……… roll of drums …….. da da!
Accessorize Bon Voyage badge Set  Picture 201
My sister found the “Paris” badge set in Accessorize (£3) and when I rummaged through my bits and pieces box I found these vintage poodle and Eifel Tower brooches, perfect for my French theme.
Altered Canvas Bag 4
I’ve only decorated on side of the bag, because I thought the embellishments would catch on my clothes.
Altered Canvas Bag 3
I made a couple of flowers using gingham ribbon, perhaps the red one could have been a little smaller (I used 1.5 inch ribbon), and put an Accessorize badge in the middle of each.

I’ve added the other bits here and there…..

I didn’t mean to put a ribbon with the black poodle ….. but it hides an over zealous blob of glue I needed to hide!

The pictures make it looked a bit squashed and crowded, but I think I have got the balance about right.

And have I used my new bag ?  Mais oui …… on a shopping trip to Aldi.

Tesco Advent Calendar House Update 1 – Slow Progress

Do you remember back in April when I started to alter my Tesco Advent Calendar House? Tesco Advent House
http://itsallfiddlefart.blogspot.com/search/label/Tesco%20Advent%20Calendar%20House. Well progress has been slow non existent, but now that I have started my Christmas blogging,  I thought I had better pull my festive finger out!
The last time you saw this project I had just spray painted the body and had sat on a very hot April Saturday afternoon giving the drawers two coats of paint by hand. I have a very low boredom threshold, so after doing five my gums were itching, but I persevered.
Choosing a theme was hard, but eventually I decided on 'snow and snowmen', with a dull turqouisey blue, white and browny colour scheme basically because I had several sheets of Basic Grey, (BLI –337) Jack Frost – Blitzen left over from another project. This paper was for the front of the drawers, the side panels and the eaves of the house.  I had also worked out how to make the little knobs for the drawers (if you pardon the expression) as I was worried that they might not be that easy to open …… and that’s as far as I got!
Tesco Advent Calender Drawer
Coming back to the project in September, I found that after two layers of paint the drawers didn't slip out of the house very easily, so I spent a joyous evening rubbing each one with candle wax (a tip I got from UKScrappers) which worked a treat.
Drawer Knobs for Tesco Advent Calendar House
I have also prepared the drawer knobs ……… what a fiddle fart, these were, made using wooden beads from a Poundland necklace that I spray painted white and then glued a flat back gem to what would be the front part, doing twenty three of these sent me cross eyed.
Templates for Drawers for Tesco Advent House
Finally, to the drawer fronts, I made a stencil and cut and glued on twenty-three of the little blighters plus one star shaped one for the top "24th" drawer..
 Tesco Advent House
I have covered them with several coats of Modge Podge Sparkle, which has given the house a really subtle, twinkly, magical appearance, something I had hoped for, but having never used this type of Modge Podge before I wasn't sure of it's properties, but when completely dry it does look quite beautiful.  That's it for the moment, I now need to work out how to do the roof ………..
